The Center for Real Dialogue is a transformative organization led by a diverse group of experts in mental health, education, and community-building, all dedicated to fostering meaningful connection and understanding. We provide programs and trainings for all people—including specialized resources for mental health and coaching professionals—helping them navigate and thrive amid disagreements, differences, and conflicts. With a team deeply invested in bridging communication divides across communities nationwide and globally, we empower individuals and organizations to create lasting, positive change through respectful and impactful dialogue.

Polly Young-Eisendrath, PhD
Founder & Executive Director

Polly Young-Eisendrath, PhD, is a psychologist, writer, speaker, and Jungian analyst, serving as the founder and Executive Director of the Center for Real Dialogue. With a private practice in central Vermont, she is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Vermont.

Polly has published extensively, authoring 19 books—translated into 20 languages—including Love Between Equals: Relationship as a Spiritual Path (2019) and, with co-author Jean Pieniadz, Dialogue Therapy for Couples and Real Dialogue for Opposing Sides: Methods Based on Psychoanalysis and Mindfulness (2022).

Recognized for her contributions to psychoanalysis, Polly received the Otto Weininger Award for Outstanding Lifetime Achievement from the Canadian Psychological Association in 2009. She is also a lifelong Buddhist practitioner and a teacher of Mindfulness.

  • Terry Moore, President

    Terry Moore is a writer and speaker who focuses on religion, science, civilization, and creative methods of living your best life, here and now. He has given three TED talks, which have been viewed millions of times, and authored three books on practical spirituality. Terry is the founder of the Radius Foundation, which seeks to unite dissimilar conceptual systems, and the CEO of BEACON40, which harnesses new technologies to promote cognitive wellness. Terry has been involved in a number of philanthropic projects, including work to promote libraries, protect endangered species, and develop new healthcare technologies.

  • Sanchit Maruti, Vice President

    Sanchit Maruti, MD, MS, is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont. He is also an Attending Psychiatrist and Medical Director of the In-patient Psychiatry Service at the University of Vermont Medical Center. His clinical focus is on working with acutely ill patients and those with co-occurring disorders. His research interests are in the areas of risk assessment and quality improvement. He is the Course Director of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP) Addictions and their Treatments Course and serves on the Board of Directors for the AAAP.

  • Robert Caper, Secretary

    Robert Caper, MD, is a psychoanalyst and author of numerous articles and four books on psychoanalysis. He is a former member of the editorial boards of the International Journal of Psychoanalysis and the Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association. He has lectured and taught in the United States, Great Britain, France, Italy, Bulgaria, China, Russia, Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Canada.

  • Michele Asch

    Michele Asch is the Vice President of Leadership and Organizational Development at her family's business, Twincraft Skincare in Burlington, Vermont. Michele directed the UVM School of Business Family Business Initiative, and currently serves on the boards of Let's Grow Kids and ECHO Leahy Center for Lake Champlain. She has owned and sold two small businesses, and does executive coaching and business development.

  • Bruce Knauft

    Bruce Knauft, PhD, is Samuel Candler Dobbs Professor of Anthropology at Emory University in Atlanta. His academic and intellectual focus is the diverse aspects of inter-subjective cultural dynamics in relationship to issues of power and constraint. Originally a rainforest anthropologist in Papua New Guinea, his initial research on shamanism, sorcery, ritual, sexuality, pariarchy and violence has expanded to work concerning polarization under postwar conflict conditions. During the past 15 years, Dr. Knauft’s research and personal interests have oriented toward Tibetan Buddhism and the intrasubjective and intersubjective dimensions of cultivating equanimity, especially in regard to afflictive emotions. These interests intersect with his interest in Real Dialogue.

  • Nancy Matthews

    Nancy Mathews, PhD, recently served as the Provost and Executive Vice President of Central Michigan University, from 2022-2024, during which time she spear-headed the CMU Strategic Plan to create an academic vision and plan for the next two decades.

    Prior to her appointment at CMU, Nancy served for eight years as Dean of the Rubenstein School of Environmental and Natural Resources at the University of Vermont. Before her deanship, Nancy served for 20 years as a Professor of Wildlife Ecology and Environmental Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Nancy has served as a member of the Executive Committees of the National Association of Forest Research Programs and the National Association of Fish and Wildlife Programs. She also served on the Board of Directors of the International Crane Foundation and as an elected Trustee for the Higher Learning Commission.

  • Kristina Von Trapp Frame

    Kristina Von Trapp, Director of the Trapp Family Lodge, was born and raised in Stowe, Vermont on her family’s property, the Trapp Lodge. She spent her last two years of high school at The Governor’s Academy in Massachusetts. She then attended University of Vermont, graduating in 1992, where she started teaching alpine skiing and fell in love with helping people have fun and enjoy the mountains. After college, her professional alpine ski instruction continued in Stowe and Perisher, Australia and then for seven years in Aspen, CO where her first child was born. Kristina and her husband, Walter Frame moved back to Stowe in 2003 to raise their family and to work at Trapp Family Lodge. Growing up in the hospitality business has taught her about the value of hard work, inclusivity, and that everyone has their own story.

Faculty

  • Sarah Brodie

    Sarah Brodie, MA, RP. Sarah is a licensed psychotherapist and art therapist. Her practice of psychotherapy has been enriched by the elegance of Real Dialogue since training with Polly Young Eisendrath from 2016 onwards. Sarah is honoured to be a part of the faculty as the Center for Real Dialogue and to teach skills to end war and stop dehumanization in all our relations. Sarah works at The Arterie in Burlington, Ontario, Canada.

  • Raymond Coppola

    Is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 25 years of experience in organizational management, leadership development, and clinical psychotherapy. His PhD is in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Depth Psychology. He is a certified Dialogue Therapist and Real Dialogue Specialist, and he maintains a private practice in Albany, New York, working with individuals and couples.

  • Peggy Dippen

    Peggy Dippen, M.Ed., is an educator, facilitator, and guide dedicated to fostering love, gratitude, and compassion. Since 1997, she has worked in public education as a teacher, coordinator, and coach. A Courage & Renewal Facilitator, Real Dialogue Specialist, Yoga Teacher, and Mindfulness-Based Psychedelic Guide, she integrates mindfulness and embodiment practices to support healing and transformation. In 2022, she founded Mindful Journeywork to help individuals deepen self-awareness, connection, and personal growth.

  • Robin Junker-Boyce

    Robin Junker-Boyce is Pastor at First Congregational Church UCC in Thetford, Vermont. She has a BS in Biology and a Masters Degree in Psychology and Religious Studies, with an extended focus on hospital chaplaincy. Previously she completed a twelve-year ministerial post at Bethany Church UCC in Randolph, Vermont. She is a Real Dialogue Specialist and studying to become a Dialogue Therapist for Couples. Her passions are preaching, community building, contemplative prayer, and the intersection between science and spirituality.

  • Susan Lillich

    Susan Lillich, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist, a Dialogue Therapist, and the director of clinical training for Dialogue Therapy at the Center for Real Dialogue. Susan has been in private practice in Vermont for over 20 years, working with individuals and couples. She also provides clinical supervision and consultation for other professionals. Susan is a longtime practitioner of Zen Buddhism.

  • Margot Parker

    Margot Parker LMFT, is a marriage and family therapist and certified Dialogue Therapist. She has a private practice in Thousand Oaks, California, and sees clients through telehealth in Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and San Diego.

  • Leland Peterson

    Leland Peterson MA, ATR-BC, is a Board Certified Art Therapist, Certified Dialogue Therapist and Psychotherapist with over 30 years of experience in providing art therapy, individual and couples counseling, and supervision services. He established and directed the Creative Arts Therapies Program at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, and is an adjunct professor in the Creative Arts Therapies Department at Concordia and President of the Art therapy Association of Vermont.

  • Amber Rickert

    Amber Rickert, LCSW, MPH is a psychotherapist working in private practice in both Vermont and California. Amber specializes in working with PTSD, developmental trauma, and couple therapy. Amber is certified in Dialogue Therapy/Real Dialogue, Emotional Transformation Therapy, and is a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist.

  • Rosa María Rigol

    Rosa María Rigol, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist and Dialogue Therapist in Miami, Florida. As a bilingual (English/Spanish) clinician, she offers psychoanalytic psychotherapy to individuals and Dialogue Therapy to couples and adult dyads. Dr. Rigol earned her doctoral degree from Michigan State University and completed internship and post-doctoral training at The Cambridge Hospital, Harvard Medical School. Her interests include immigration, Latina/o mental health, and relational psychoanalysis. She has been in practice since 2001 and specializes in the treatment of anxiety, mood disorders, and interpersonal conflict.

  • Pamela Williams

    Pamela Williams, MSS, LSW, is an educator with a background in clinical social work and research. She holds Certificates in Instructional Leadership Coaching from Harvard Graduate School of Education, in Independent School Leadership from Johns Hopkins Graduate School of Education and Business, an MSS from Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Social Work, and a BA from Sarah Lawrence College. Currently working in the Burlington School District (VT). She has been an instructor at Bryn Mawr College School of Social Work and Community College of Vermont. She is a Certified Real Dialogue Specialist.

  • Paula Emery, Program Manager

    Paula Emery, MA, is the Center for Real Dialogue’s Program Manager. A veteran public high school teacher, she holds a Master of Arts in History. She is a Real Dialogue Specialist and is certified in Restorative Practice. She is actively involved in planning and community development in Central Vermont.

  • Renee Hrubovcak, Financial Manager

    Renee Hrubovcak is an Accountant in Central Vermont and current business owner of NYAB Services LLC. Renee has over 35 years of accounting & tax experience, including over 20 years in a Certified Public Accounting Firm. Renee has extensive experience in the financial reporting of for-profit and non-profit entities, as well as tax preparation for individuals, businesses and non-profit organizations.

  • Chris Coltrane, Media Manager

    Chris Coltrane is a video and audio producer, director, and editor in Vermont with over 10 years of experience. He has worked in editing and distribution of film/digital assets for commercials, events, educational programs, podcasts, and other traditional media for individual clients and companies. Chris is the owner of Midline, a production and consulting house for creatives in the film and music industry.
